The lands of Jumellière have belonged to our family since the 12th century. The chateau and the park were passed down to me by my grandmother. This property is full of memories, I am deeply attached to it and to the safeguarding of my heritage.
The chateau is listed as a historical monument, it was built by two great architects, Henri Parent and Ernest Sanson, and the landscaped park is the work of Henri Duchêne. The surroundings and the atmosphere reflect the chateau life during the Second Empire. The chateau was built with both bricks and stone in an eclectic, ornate style. The soft light of Anjou dances on the heraldic sculptures, garlands and volutes that decorate the facade. The slate, pyramid roofs, the finials and the tall chimneys give the property an impressive sense of height, and the large windows bathe the period decor in light. Significant changes were made after the First World War, almost everything from this time has been preserved - from the basement to the servants' chambers in the eaves, the entrance hall with a suspended spiral staircase, the neo-Louis XVI lounges and the neo-Louis XIV dining room.
The entirety of the Château de la Jumellière (wooden interiors, stables, gardener's hut and the whole of the enclosed English-style park which was planted in 1867) was listed as a historical monument on 16 June 2014. Jumellière was the result of two dynasties coming together - that of a famous Parisian architect, Henri Parent who was favoured by the royalist party and became the architect of the "noble suburb" of Saint-Germain; and that of the Dukes of Plaisance who were represented by Armand-Urbain, he was the Count of Maillé, 4th Duke of Plaisance, the president of the General Council and Senator of Maine-et-Loire. This eclectic building made of brick and stone was built between 1858 and 1862 and inaugurated in 1866 under the Second Empire, Ernest Sanson added an extension to it in 1874. La Jumellière is above all a family chateau and a surprising testament to 19th century life and aristocratic society.
An authentic experience in a family chateau! We also offer tours of the chateau which include the large living room and the old kitchens. Guests are free to explore the sixty-hectare park and enjoy long walks. They can also ride horses on the property and take riding lessons at the stables. Wine tastings (Coteau du Layon, Savennières, Loire wines) and farm tours can be organised upon request.
There are so many places to visit around Angers, Cholet, and the Loire Valley - the chateau of King René, the tapestries of the Apocalypse, the David d'Angers museum, Cholet and its industrial and textile heritage, the Puy du Fou, the Abbey of Fontevraud and the wine routes of the Coulée de Serrant. I particularly enjoy going for bike rides by the open-air cafes along the Loire and barge trips accompanied by wine tastings.
Available for filming and photo shoots are: the interiors of the chateau (with the possibility of adding to the decor), the 60-hectare wooded park with a pond, a river and garden mills (including an old cooler) and the stables with a 1400m training track.

The stables that were built in the 19th century, as the chateau, are open all year in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Whether you want to start or to improve riding, or even to board your horse, the stables are provided with beautiful frames and are an oasis of calm for the animals and the riders. We offer quality lessons with your own mount or even the club's equipment, different types of pensions, activities "equip-handi" adapted for handicapped persons. All the stables are registered as Historical Monuments since 2014. Besides the beauty of the building, their thermal inertia allows the spacious livery yards to keep cool during summer and keep the horses warm during the winter. The riding area is negotiable all year.
Group and individual tours are by reservation all year round, however there is no need to book between 14 July and 31 as the chateau is open to the public during this period. Tours are led by the owner of the chateau or a specialist speaker and last approximately one hour. The chateau welcomes groups of up to 50 people.
