One of the nine historic regions of Brittany, Trégor boasts a variety of landscapes, ranging from traditional wooded countryside to a spectacular coastline. Not far from the coast, in the heart of a village, the manor house stands as a testament to an architectural tradition and culture deeply rooted in this region. Built entirely of granite, just as it should be, the property comprises several buildings forming a small, enclosed estate with a garden. The renovation has successfully highlighted its best features, adding a cheerful touch of comfort that invites you to relax, enjoy catching up with friends and family, and to share large meals together. And when you feel like a change of scenery, simply head for the coast, taking in the beauty of the Trégor region along the way. What a plan!
I was looking for a family home where I could bring my children and grandchildren together. I was searching for a place that was full of life, steeped in history and showing traces of the passage of time. Initially drawn to mills, I quickly gave up due to the constraints associated with water and the risk of flooding. I then turned my attention onto an old house in Brittany, a region which is dear to my heart. Little by little, Trégor and the Pink Granite Coast became the obvious choice for me. I came across this manor house in Plouzélambre. Despite its basic comforts, its spaciousness, its walls and its atmosphere revealed a rare potential. After more than two years of extensive restorations, the property has been restored to its former splendour and warmth, becoming a true family meeting place.
A classic Breton manor house, the building is a testament to evolving rural architecture, once associated with a working farm. Built of stone with thick walls, it is laid out over several storeys, featuring an accessible attic and a round tower housing a stone staircase. During renovations, the rediscovery of a “cathedral-like” space featuring a monumental fireplace made it possible to restore it to its original character, which had been altered by an intermediate floor. The works also revealed curved beams from ship frames, indicating that they had been reused in the past. An annex, which used to be a separate building accessible only from the outside, has been incorporated to become the kitchen. The building still has four monumental fireplaces, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor.
The history of the manor house remains partly shrouded in mystery. Research carried out at the Côtes-d’Armor departmental archives has made it possible to locate it on the Napoleonic land register, confirming its existence as early as the 18th century. Although not listed, it is registered and recognised by the local authorities and Bâtiments de France. It is situated opposite a listed church, in the heart of a village with a few hundred inhabitants. Accounts suggest that the area was once used for farming and that family life there was fairly recent. Perhaps linked to a larger estate or to the local history of the nobility, the manor house still holds a certain air of mystery that future research will shed light on.

The manor house and its outbuilding are ideal for film shoots and photo shoots thanks to the variety of their settings: grand fireplaces, a round tower, an inner courtyard, a converted attic, an enclosed garden and a heated swimming pool. The property covers a total of 216 m², of which 171.5 m² is taken up by the manor house, with twelve rooms. The site covers over 4,000 m² and can accommodate 14 people on site. The property is easily accessible via Plouaret station.
