I decided to leave Paris in 2013 to settle in Normandy where my family is from, more specifically in Caen, where I was born. Compelled by my desire to share my expertise and way of life with others, I transformed this mansion into a special place. A unique guesthouse where everybody can feel at home.
It is a 19th century mansion with a vaulted cellar that is typical of Caen. Located in the historic centre just a stone's throw from the town hall and the Abbaye aux Hommes, it was fortunately able to withstand the bombings of the last war.
After serving as a family home for many generations, the mansion was only recently turned into a guesthouse when I began making changes. I took great care in preserving the floors, the woodwork and everything that gave this property its charm.
The three apartments upstairs have been laid out as the sort of apartments I always dreamed of staying in on various personal and professional trips, "Chez Laurence du Tilly" has been designed to reflect my taste. In addition to a beautiful walk, I offer a range of services such as massages, room service, fireplace kits and fresh champagne upon arrival.
My favourite is by the sea on the wild beach of Bernières-sur-Mer. There is a lovely hut on the sand which is perfect for catching some rays or sipping on a mojito as the sun sets - stunning views are guaranteed. For wine lovers, a trip to the Rösel wine cellars is not to be missed; they are great for purchasing wines as well as tastings and tours.
For filming or photo shoots, all three apartments are available as well as the entrance, the guest living room and the vaulted cellar.
