Ajaccio has retained traces of its 15th-century Genoese influence, with its defensive appearance and narrow, colourful streets. But its glory and status as an "imperial city" came later, when Napoleon, a native of the region, made it the capital of Corsica. It then blossomed, became urbanised, enhanced with prestigious buildings to become the city of art and history that still shines out on the island today. This is what the Saint-Roch flat invites you to contemplate from its large windows and surround balcony suspended above the gulf and the old port. Beams and parquet floors, stone and brick frames, walls in yellow ochre or covered in Brutalist-inspired prints adorn the spacious rooms, punctuated by simple yet sophisticated furniture, lamps, objects and fabrics. Everything is thought out with the aim of making you want to stay longer.
I was born and grew up in Ajaccio, the town where my family has had its roots for generations. As a young retiree with a passion for decorating, I was lucky enough to be able to renovate this exceptional property in the historic centre of this city which is so close to my heart.
The building stands out due to its location in the historic part of the city. The flat has an exceptional view of the church of Saint-Roch, located on the Cours Napoléon. From the balcony, you can admire the picturesque rooftops of the old town, the Fesch Museum and the breathtaking panoramic view over the entire Gulf of Ajaccio. The old beams and parquet floors have been preserved, and the spaces have been carefully renovated to retain their original authenticity, charm and character. A harmonious blend of heritage and modernity gives this building and this flat a unique architectural appeal.
The building dates back to the 18th century. It has seen generations of Ajaccians pass through it and has witnessed the town's evolution. Its recent renovation has respected its original architecture.
The promise of an authentic experience in the heart of Ajaccio. Thanks to its exceptional location, the flat is within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops and beaches. The nearby train and ferry station offers the chance to discover new landscapes on day trips. The apartment has been carefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Every detail has been carefully thought through to offer a comfortable stay in an environment of historic charm.
The "Bilbocq Chez Jean-Jean" restaurant is a real culinary institution, especially famous for its lobster pasta. For traditional Corsican home cooking, I recommend you spend the evening at "Au Campanile Chez Pascale". “Le Cabanon" is a must-visit restaurant, where the owners have a triple vocation: fishermen, farmers and chefs. Madame cooks the fish caught by Monsieur or one of his friends, accompanying it with vegetables from her garden.
