The old 19th-century farm, which is found along the narrow country road that winds through the Aveyron countryside, has changed considerably. The farm buildings now form a hamlet comprising several houses, all carefully renovated to preserve their original appearance. But a few external features, such as the horizontal windows framed in metal, already hint at a decidedly contemporary interior design. This shift in tone and atmosphere is, in itself, a journey through the ages. Visitors will be able to continue their adventure by exploring the magnificent region of Occitanie, with its many charming villages, fortified towns and historic cities—names such as Rodez, Millau, Conques, La Couvertoirade, Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Brousse-le-Château and many more that already spark the imagination.
In 2006, on the road from Belgium to the Gers, a detour took us to Villeneuve-d’Aveyron. In the heart of the bastide, the peace and tranquillity of the place struck us immediately. We quickly started to imagine a life here, one that was simpler and more grounded. The idea started to gain ground, so we decided to come back. A year later, we came across an old farmhouse, much of which had remained in its original condition. Following its acquisition, we completely restored the hamlet and breathed new life into it. This choice, which was initially instinctive, gradually became an enduring certainty.
Set in three hectares of lush greenery, the property comprises three houses, a barn and a pool house, all restored in keeping with the original farm. The masonry is its very soul: every stone, painstakingly restored, carries its history forward without betraying it. The old beams, which have been preserved and restored, lend a sense of controlled continuity to the space. Among the highlights is a wood-fired oven made of Panyol stone, which is both understated and essential, blending practicality with a touch of poetry. Nothing here is merely for show; everything stems from a focus on time and material. The restoration doesn’t impose; it reveals, giving the place a faithful new lease of life, where authenticity becomes a quiet certainty.
The property was originally a modest 19th-century farm, shared by a community. The barn housed the cattle, whilst small outbuildings were used to keep pigs and horses. One of the buildings even housed the communal oven, the bustling heart of the community where bread and meals were prepared. Over time, the estate evolved without ever losing sight of its agricultural roots. When we discovered it, the barn was still in use, but the other buildings stood abandoned. The restoration thus emerged as an act of continuity: preserving the spirit of the place, bringing its history to light, and breathing new life into it—remaining true to its origins whilst embracing the present.
Set in the heart of the Aveyron countryside, the property combines history, comfort and a break in the countryside. The venue is ideal for both relaxation and socialising: family holidays, get-togethers with friends or work retreats are all natural here. Yoga, meditation, bespoke events and culinary experiences provide the backdrop to these special moments. The spa, a secluded retreat, features a hammam, a Roman-style bath overlooking the fields, and a treatment area. Three fully equipped kitchens, including one with a wood-fired oven, allow you to enjoy the art of entertaining, whether on your own or with a chef. Outside, the terraces and heated swimming pool let you savour every moment amidst the gentle beauty of the landscape.
Strolling through Villeneuve-d'Aveyron, a medieval market town listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France, is like walking through a setting where every stone tells a story. The discreet and inspiring Galerie Jean-Marie Périer delights photography enthusiasts, whilst the "Santé Bonheur" bar embodies the village’s friendly spirit. The Chapel of Saint James reveals its 14th-century frescoes. In the summer, the night market brings the narrow streets to life with local delicacies, crafts and music. From the property, "Ballon du Causse" offers the chance to take to the skies for a scenic flight and appreciate the full beauty of the landscape. In June, Roquefort, a region which is in a festive mood, celebrates its iconic AOP cheese in style.
