The Côte d'Azur has some well-kept secrets. Surrounded by cypress and pine trees, like sentries guarding its tranquillity, the villa with its Italian accents, looks out over the blue sea as if nothing must ever change around it. The sound of cicadas, the comforting warmth, the fragrant air emanating from the dense and varied vegetation, the lapping of the waves in the distance...nothing is missing from this typically Mediterranean spot. Of course, many things have changed since it was built in the 19th century, starting with its layout, which is now designed for the comfort and freedom of movement of its occupants. It has nevertheless managed to preserve its essence, despite the largely urbanised coastline, forming a kind of souvenir of the days before mass tourism. Visitors here will undoubtedly find all the pleasures of the Côte d'Azur, without the drawbacks.
The villa is located in an unspoilt area, on the Pin de Galle rocky coastline, within the protected area of Port Cros. Equidistant between the famous city of Marseille and the mythical village of Saint-Tropez in the Var department of Provence, it is just 200 metres from the Pin de Galle and Monaco beaches. We were attracted to this location because of its relaxed lifestyle, generous sunshine and easy access. It is just 15 minutes from Toulon station and close to two airports, Marseille and Toulon Hyères. We were looking for a seaside location steeped in history, with secluded grounds planted with age-old Mediterranean trees. We wanted to promote a certain art of living, away from the hustle and bustle, in a peaceful setting surrounded by beauty.
The property is set in beautifully landscaped, enclosed grounds hidden from view. The garden, designed by "Fredon Mille et Un Jardins", creators of the most beautiful landscaped gardens on the Côte d'Azur, is home to ancient cypress trees and a beautiful variety of Mediterranean vegetation. We also have an orchard with lemon, olive and fig trees. Inside, period features from when it was built, have been installed: a fireplace from the reception rooms of early 19th-century transatlantic liners, a majestic wrought-iron gate from a medieval Spanish castle, and a Moorish-style shaded outdoor arbour. The house has a 400 m² interior surface area and two 300 m² terraces. The internal facade of the L-shape is accentuated by a row of pear-shaped balusters, which elegantly encircle the residence.
The house, which dates back to 1890, was completely renovated in 2021 and decorated by a renowned Parisian architect. It is located on the Domaine de la Vierge, a protected natural site by the sea. At the turn of the century, the estate was divided into three plots. There is an oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary at its centre, after whom the estate is named. The interiors are a blend of family furniture, design pieces and objects brought back from travels.
A romantic and inspiring place. An ideal location for discovering and enjoying the region's most popular destinations. A house with a 15 x 4 meters heated mirror pool, wide open spaces and vast terraces offering an ideal setting for a holiday with family or friends. The landscaped garden features Mediterranean plants and century-old cypresses. Exotic birds can be seen here, as can squirrels that love the cypress acorns. The property which is hidden from prying eyes, promises vast open spaces and absolute peace and quiet.
In Le Pradet, lunch at the "L'Oursinado" restaurant, a magical spot high up in the hills, facing the sea in the shade of the pine trees. The freshly caught fish and shellfish are delicious. The village square, which has retained its traditional southern atmosphere, is ideal for a morning coffee. We're just a couple of hundred metres on foot from the beach, which is completely unspoilt by the tourist masses in Monaco and voted the most beautiful beach in the Var in 2014. Some of the most popular destinations on the Côte d'Azur are nearby, including the islands of Porquerolles and Port Cros. Stroll through the streets of Hyères and discover its traditional cafés and bars, as well as its 11th-century fortress built by the first kings of Provence.

The house is partly on one level, with three of the five bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms located upstairs. The large lounge, laid out like an orangery, provides direct access to the terraces. The master suite includes a small lounge, bathroom and bedroom with patio doors and a private terrace.
