Cadaqués was long an isolated fishing port due to its location at the north-eastern tip of Spain, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. Nowadays, it is one of the most sought-after destinations due to this exceptional location and the charm of its preserved whitewashed houses, whose silhouettes are reflected in the azure sea. Casa Verda attests to the growing enthusiasm for this Catalan holiday resort at the beginning of the 20th century, which is still just as popular to this day. Recently renovated under the supervision of a local architect, it has been given contemporary touches without losing its elegant original silhouette or its generous spaces, which can easily welcome large families. In the heart of the village, which is the beating heart of Catalonia, guests will have privileged access to a unique art of living that combines the pride and gentle spirit of this region.
Cadaqués has everything we were looking for: authentic charm, an unspoilt part of the Mediterranean Sea, a village full of character, with original architecture, a unique culture and a delicious culinary offering. Added to this, our historic house combines its unique location on the main square with a remarkable garden, which is a veritable calm, green oasis right next to restaurants and craft shops.
Casa Verda is a historic house that has retained all of the spaciousness and charm of the 1920s. In 2024, under the visionary direction of the Catalan architect Ignacio Herrera, we completely renovated the building using local materials, while preserving the original architectural features such as the majestic staircase, the stained glass windows, the ceramics. We kept the character of the original building, adding everything necessary for maximum comfort: air conditioning, a lift, a fully-equipped kitchen.
In the 1920s, the Canovas family fell under the spell of Cadaqués. The idea of having a summer retreat appealed to them, and they set about building their home in the very heart of Cadaqués, on the quiet square where the fishermen provided a rhythm to daily village life. Over the summers, their home became the scene of warm get-togethers, where the head of the family, the grandmother, organised huge lunches. Artists and creative minds came together to share their inspiration in a convivial atmosphere. A painting of this extraordinary woman still proudly adorns the Casa Verda.
Located in the heart of the lively village of Cadaqués, 30 metres from the main beach, Casa Verda is a haven of peace. Each guest is given a tailor-made welcome and there is a villa manager who will respond to your every request, from booking a private chef, to a boat trip, to a visit to Dali's house.
Not to be missed: the Cap de Creus National Park is a unique place with a wealth of geological and botanical treasures, ideal for hiking and cycling. Dali's house and museum and the church of Santa Maria, which offers a breath-taking view of the bay and which contains one of the most remarkable Baroque altarpieces in Catalonia, by Pau Costa, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. For an unforgettable gastronomic experience, try the young chef Pablo’s cooking at Narita - right in front of the house - or go to the “Compartir” restaurant.
