Everything that makes traditional Provencal homes so charming is preserved and even enhanced here. Once designed to stand the test of time and meet the demands of farming, the farmhouse has undergone a radical transformation and is now ready to project itself into the future without losing any of its soul. Roof and walls, beams and terracotta floor tiles are souvenirs of its origins, while contemporary fittings have been gently incorporated into every space. Travellers will enjoy savouring the light, landscapes, sounds and flavours of Provence that we so love with their family or friends.
Originally from a small village nestling at the foot of Mont Ventoux, I'm deeply attached to this corner of Provence. I love its light, its hilly landscapes planted with vines, cypresses and olive trees, reminiscent of Tuscany. The view from the farmhouse has an Italian flavour, with a sea of vines and majestic umbrella pines that stand out on the horizon.
The farmhouse is set in 6 000 m2 of enclosed grounds. With its rectangular structure, triple overhanging cornice, canal tiles and covered well beside the lime tree, it is in keeping with Provencal tradition. It has been entirely restored using high-quality, old materials: terracotta tiles, old doors, dressed stone, ironwork, etc.
This is a family home that was originally a farm, dating back to the 19th century. The present-day kitchen once housed a rabbit farm, and the living room a stable. You can still see the notch where the timber was wedged into the stone frame of the living room window. The building structure has been preserved and enlarged, and the interior completely restored.
Above all, a wonderful view. The garden and swimming pool face a vineyard and the view is far-reaching. At sunset, it's magical. The venue is ideal for families or groups of friends looking to have a good time in a countryside setting, There is a bakery is within walking distance, at 400 metres from the house. All other shops and good restaurants can be reached by car within a radius of 5-6 kilometres.
Take a seat at "Vin Ensèn à Caromb", an excellent bistro run by former sommeliers. Taste the candied fruit and chocolates from the legendary "Maison Jouvaud". Sip a coffee or an aperitif at the "Crillon-Le-Brave" hotel, whose terrace has breathtaking views of the foothills of Mount Ventoux. Wind your way by car or bike between Le Barroux, Malaucène and Suzette, three magnificent villages with the Dentelles de Montmirail in the background. On the way back down to Beaumes-de-Venise, take the wine route and enjoy a wine tasting in the Gigondas cellars. Bathe in the Toulourenc in the river that has carved its bed out of the rock. The site is spectacular. Browse the flea market in Carpentras on a Sunday morning.
