I was born in the chateau and spent my entire childhood there. This place has belonged to my family since 1920. My great-grandmother bought the estate, which also included farmland. My father took over the farm, which had many employees at the time. With a background in agriculture, I took over the management of the estate in 1978.
This 400 m2 manor house, built in 1860, boasts panoramic views over the Limousin countryside. The rectangular, hipped and slate-roofed main building is flanked at one corner by a round tower topped by a pepperbox roof. The façades have two floors of stone-framed windows, all of which can be closed by white-painted wooden shutters. Inside, the house boasts generous ceiling heights. The walls of the château are full of contemporary paintings, collected by my father, who was a great art lover.
The story of this place begins with my great-grandmother who bought the estate, comprising the château and farmland as well as buildings to house employees, at the beginning of the 20th century. The property was originally a farm, which explains the outbuildings surrounding it. From the time he acquired the estate at the beginning of the 20th century, my grandfather farmed the land, as did all his descendants, right up to the present day. Agriculture still forms the identity of the place and today it is a family home full of memories.
The 2.5-hectare parkland is ideal for outdoor activities or simply relaxing. The heated swimming pool with its pool house, open from May to September, overlooks the countryside, and a summer kitchen lets you make the most of the fine weather or enjoy a cool lunch. The adjoining wood, accessible on foot, is ideal for one or two hour walks. Angling is possible in the pond just below the château. A boules pitch and a table tennis table are available to our guests. The house is alive with books and everyday objects, giving it a warm, authentic atmosphere. I would also be delighted to explain to my guests my job as a Limousin cow breeder, which you can see in the property's meadows.
The "Lo Vinataud" restaurant in Vicq-sur-Breuilh serves traditional home cooking and regional specialities every day. Situated near a small lake, "Le Marymax" in Masseret, a brasserie with a chalet feel, offers cuisine made with fresh, seasonal produce in an ideal location for swimming with children. In the village, the Musée & Jardins Cécile Sabourdy, dedicated to Naïfs, Bruts et Singuliers, is housed in a 17th-century presbytery that looks like a château. In Limoges, the Musée du four des Casseaux, a listed site devoted to Limoges porcelain, traces the history of this industry through its technical and artistic aspects, as well as its social history. "Chez Olivier", a master restaurateur in the Halles de Limoges, offers simple, authentic traditional cuisine, 100% homemade.
The entire property is available for weddings and receptions, with a maximum capacity of 50 guests. The two lounges and the dining room on the ground floor form three reception areas inside. The 2.5 hectare park with its swimming pool is ideal for a cocktail party or reception. The venue caters for groups in residence, with a capacity of 15 people.
