Not far from Avignon, Carpentras or Ile-sur-la-Sorgue, the Château des 3 Fontaines appears eager to stand out from these Vaucluse lands it calls home. Breaking from local traditions, the architecture brings several sources of inspiration together and forms a prestigious ensemble where any ordinary contingency would have been abolished. Without the typical scents or climate of Provence, it is almost believe possible to believe you have been transported to the Roaring Twenties in America. Dressed all in white, both inside and out, the property welcomes guests with the elegance of the Great Gatsby for stays and receptions that we suspect will be hard to forget.
Our families have lived in the region for several generations, and we knew of the Château des 3 Fontaines before we bought it. We have always been drawn to this area, and living here has been a dream of ours since childhood. So when the opportunity arose, we bought it straight away. At the time, the estate was a sleeping beauty which we gently and passionately revived to create a place for holidays and receptions.
The house has four floors and a total living area of approximately 900m². The garden level is located at the rear facade of the chateau. On the front facade, a stone staircase lined with balusters leads to a wrought iron gate that opens onto the terrace. The gate hugs the perfectly symmetrical facade in a graceful semi-circle and is also lined with balusters. Pierced with ornate stone-framed bay windows, the building is made up of a central body that is flanked by two wings. Two monolithic columns surmounted by capitals support the balcony with balusters on the first level, the central opening of which is enhanced by an arched tympanum with sculpted decoration at the centre. Between the columns, the stilted arch door of honour is surmounted by an ornate sculpture. The other four bay windows are also lined with balusters in perfect symmetry across the entire facade.
The Château des 3 Fontaines dates back to 1897. It was built on ancient groundwater, hence its name, which was about thirty metres deep. The property is a private residence, surrounded by a nine-hectare park. According to legend, a 19th century aristocrat fell in love with a shepherdess who worked nearby. He went against the social codes of the time by marrying her and gifted her this chateau. A few years later, to enshrine their love, they planted a Lebanese cedar tree in front of the chateau. When their twins were born, a storm hit the region and lightning split the tree in two, leaving two pistils of the same flower.
A Provencal setting where the sun shines three hundred days a year. A park with fountains, works of art, waterfalls, a pond and centuries old trees that can provide natural shade during professional or private gatherings outdoors. We offer tailor-made, personalised support when organising events or privatising the property. This includes planning, selection of service providers, invitations, concierge services, and coordination on the day of the event. The chateau has thirteen rooms that can accommodate up to thirty-four guests and a 70m² bridal suite. Included in the holiday price are the services of a housekeeper who is on site for five hours a day. The services of a chef or a driver can also be provided on request for an additional price.
The antique dealers route and the wine route in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and in particular the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Beaumes-de-Venise. Not far from the chateau are three legendary trails that lead to the summit of Mont Ventoux where the view is truly breath-taking. For truffle lovers, Chez Serge in Carpentras is a family run restaurant that will take you on a journey through a world of taste. Nestled in the heart of the Luberon in Joucas, La Table de Xavier Mathieu is a Michelin-starred mecca for foodies. The Domaine des Peyre Wine & Art and its art tour allow visitors to discover artists from all over the world. On the cultural side, the region has remained prominent for several generations, notably during the Avignon festival and the Chorégies d'Orange.
Film crews can become privileged guests for shoots lasting a few days or even several months. Fashion shows and photo shoots are also possible throughout the year.
